By submitting your signed entry form, you agree that the Guild will not be held liable or be in any way responsible for theft, damage either man-made or by acts of God, or loss of photographs left after scheduled pick-up time.
-
Categories will be (a) black & white (all subjects), (b) color (all subjects), and (c) special digital effects, such as HDR (high dynamic range) photography and other layered-effects photography, or obvious digital enhancements such as those made with Photoshop ©. Within the 3 basic categories, you may submit human-interest photos, portraits (formal and casual), landscapes, objects or commercial products, wildlife (two and four legged).
-
Whether a photo originates from a film negative or a digital RAW, jpeg or other file is at the photographer’s discretion. It is the end product that will be judged. A minimum of 20 photographs must be entered in each category to be judged. The Carolina Artists Guild reserves the right to exclude any work deemed inappropriate for public exhibit.
-
All photos must be submitted without matting or frames. (Any photographs submitted framed and/or with mattes will be rejected at intake.) All photos must be mounted on a rigid backing, such as art board, foam-core, or other suitable supportive backing. Photos may be submitted with or without borders. Please attach a device to the back of each of your photographs, such as a stick-on plastic hook, to enable hanging. While we prefer 16” X 20” prints or larger, the minimum size acceptable for the 2012 Expo will be 8” X 10” prints.
-
Each photographer is responsible for affixing a label to the back of each entry piece containing the following information: Photographer’s first and last name; business or home street address including city, state, and zip code; telephone number and e-mail address; title of the photograph; asking price if for sale.
-
No private sales will be allowed at Photo Expo 2012. A separate table will be available for photographers and sponsors to display business cards and other materials (brochures) for public distribution.
-
The Carolina Artists Guild will retain 15 percent of all sales based on the price of the piece as marked when entered. All sales/checks are payable directly to The Carolina Artists. Payment for works sold will be mailed to the photographer within 30 days after the show’s closing. Sold items may be picked up by the buyers at the show’s closing.
-
First-, second-, and third-place cash prizes will be awarded, plus up to 2 honorable mentions (ribbons only) at the judge’s discretion, in each category. Also other prizes will be awarded in a raffle drawing, which will include photo accessories and digital photo processing (post capture) software. Tickets will be on sale at the door for $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. All awards and raffle prizes will be awarded at the reception. Raffle winners must be present to receive a prize.
