Ingrid A. Erickson: Artist Statement:

I fell in love with the art of cut paper when I lived in China and Thailand from 2004-2006. My pieces are all individually hand-cut; each is unique. I use scissors ranging in size from 1-inch folding scissors to full sized shears. I also work with an x-acto blade and utility knives. Nature is my chief inspiration. In addition, I draw insight from textiles, printmaking, and Asian screens and scrolls.

My work has recently been featured in museum and gallery shops including the Kemper Museum of Art in Kansas City, Women and Their Work Gallery in Austin, TX, The Holter Museum of Art in Helena, MT, Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, The Figge Art Museum in Davenport, Iowa, LSU Museum of Art in Baton Rouge, Provincetown Art Association Museum in Provincetown, MA, The Croft Art Gallery in Waco, TX, The Hickory Museum of Art in Hickory, NC, and Four Corners Framing and Gallery in Mooresville, NC.

I moved to Salisbury in July 2011 and am now settled into my studio at Rail Walk Studios and Gallery on Lee Street. My work can be found locally at The Green Goat Gallery in Spencer, and Southern Spirit Gallery in Salisbury. I am thrilled to be in such a great community of artists!

I received my BA in art history with a minor in Studio Art (with a focus on Printmaking) from Middlebury College, in Middlebury VT, in 2003 and a K-12 Studio Art Certification in 2008 from the Maine College of Art in Portland. I teach ART Stop classes for grade 5 at Waterworks Visual Art Center. I also teach private art lessons for ages 5-18 in a variety of art media.
